Defence, the DPS Way
It was not just one, but two great days for DPS Nacharam when the students took part in the Japan Karate Shotokai Championship, and the Budokan AP State Level Open Karate Championship, and hauled in an assortment of prizes, for their presence of mind and self-defence technique.
The Japan Karate Shotokai Championship was organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, under the auspices of the Okinawa Martial Arts Academy. The AP State Level Open Karate and Kung-Fu Championship is a prestigious tournament organized by the All Styles Martial Arts Organisation, AP, and is affiliated to Karate Budokan International.
In the JKSC, Yash and Tejasvi bagged gold medals, while Anandita won a silver, and Neha and Rajan scored a bronze apiece. In the BAPSLOKC, DPS won a whopping 7 gold medals, thanks to Ramya, Yash, Naveen, Rajani, and Manasi. Tejasvi and Anandita grabbed a couple of silvers, while Neha and Dharan added the total to 11 with two bronze medals. Mr. Murali, the Karate teacher and the principal, Mrs. T. Sudha, have been applauded for their immense support and encouragement. Such tournaments should be promoted to ensure that kids are not only trained mentally, but also in their self-defence.
