Early Childhood Development

PRIMARY SCHOOL(CLASS I TO V)

HIGH SCHOOL (CLASS Vl to X )
1. The emphasis is on conceptual knowledge.2. The curriculum is research oriented and based on teamwork vis-à-vis discussions, group project work, discovery and exploration.
3. Personality development, value education and coping with peer pressure are stressed upon at this stage.
4. Students work in groups and make power point presentations on subject related topics. Parents are also invited for such presentations.
5. An equal stress is laid on preparing students for the prescribed CBSE syllabus and on preparing the students for the various competitive entrance examinations.

Information Technology
State of the art computer lab with one PC per student with 24 hours internet connection is what DPS Secunderabad offers. The computer lab houses 45 PCs. The configuration of the PCs are core 2 duo - 2.66 GHz PC’s with a minimum configuration of 1 GB RAM and 160 GB HDD.
At DPS Secunderabad , children are introduced to computers right from class I. The curriculum for Computer Science for classes I to X is not a rigid one since DPS Secunderabad aims at imparting the usage of computers as a tool and not a subject. We try and collaborate with subject teachers and incorporate a part of the subject taught in class as fun projects using the computers.
Class IX and X follows the prescribed CBSE curriculum
Learning Center
The Learning Centre looks after children with learning disabilities and helps, where possible, to mainstream them. These children are looked after through the IEP (Individual Educational Programme). The goal is of Inclusive Education i.e. to help them cope better with the school's curriculum and function in mainstream.
The Learning Centre is an integral part of the school and also caters to mainstream students who face learning disabilities due to emotional disorders. Regular assessment is done to evaluate the needs of the child.
The Centre also assists in preparing children for the National Open School Examination.
Academic Syllabus
DPS Secunderabad, affiliated to the CBSE with classes from Nursery to X basically adheres to the NCERT/CBSE curriculum. A third language option of French, Telugu or Sanskrit is introduced at the class IV level. The school provides courses in all the streams at the Senior Secondary level with a wide range of elective subjects.

From Classes IV onwards, all students study English, Mathematics, Sciences, Hindi and a third language. Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) which includes art/craft, music and dance. Physical education also forms a part of the curriculum. Classes in computer science are compulsory for all students.
Remedial classes in all subjects are held throughout the year, to enable the students who are unable to meet the high standards set by the school, to clarify their difficulties and come up to the level of their respective classes.
