Early Childhood Development

1. Learning is made interesting, fun and activity oriented at this level.

2. Participation of the students is encouraged through  activities such as drawing and colouring,  group activities, clay modelling, pottery ,puppetry and puzzles.

3. Poems and stories are dramatized using expressive actions.

4. Focus is on developing communication skills and on reinforcing an innate sense of discovery.

5. Children learn to comprehend through a multi sensory approach   with the help  of multimedia.

6. Nature walks and regular educational tours to the Zoos,  Museum and Theme Parks develop a sense of openness towards the world.

PRIMARY SCHOOL(CLASS I TO V)

1. A thematic approach is designed to stimulate the children through various inter-active sessions and activities.

2. An extensive use of technology aids to supplement classroom teaching.

3. Project work lays  emphasis in developing a strong sense of individuality.

4. Field trips and excursions make learning fun.

HIGH SCHOOL (CLASS  Vl to  X )

1. The emphasis is on conceptual knowledge.

2. The curriculum is research oriented and based on teamwork vis-à-vis discussions, group project work, discovery and exploration.

3. Personality development, value education and coping with peer pressure are stressed upon at this stage.

4. Students work in groups and make power point presentations on subject related topics. Parents are also invited for such presentations.

5. An equal stress is laid on preparing students for the prescribed CBSE syllabus and on preparing the students for the various competitive entrance examinations.

6. Result oriented training is imparted by experienced professionals who target for total development and desired success.

Information Technology

State of the art computer lab with one PC per student with 24 hours internet connection is what DPS Secunderabad offers. The computer lab houses 45 PCs. The configuration of the PCs are core 2 duo - 2.66 GHz PC’s with a minimum configuration of 1 GB RAM and 160 GB HDD.

At DPS Secunderabad , children are introduced to computers right from class I. The curriculum for Computer Science for classes I to X is not a rigid one since DPS Secunderabad aims at imparting the usage of computers as a tool and not a subject. We try and collaborate with subject teachers and incorporate a part of the subject taught in class as fun projects using the computers.

Class IX and X follows the prescribed CBSE curriculum

Learning Center

The Learning Centre looks after children with learning disabilities and helps, where possible, to mainstream them. These children are looked after through the IEP (Individual Educational Programme). The goal is of Inclusive Education i.e. to help them cope better with the school's curriculum and function in mainstream.

The Learning Centre is an integral part of the school and also caters to mainstream students who face learning disabilities due to emotional disorders. Regular assessment is done to evaluate the needs of the child.

The Centre also assists in preparing children for the National Open School Examination.

Academic Syllabus

DPS Secunderabad, affiliated to the CBSE with classes from Nursery to X basically adheres to the NCERT/CBSE curriculum. A third language option of French, Telugu or Sanskrit is introduced at the class IV level. The school provides courses in all the streams at the Senior Secondary level with a wide range of elective subjects.

Delhi Public School, Secunderabad –Nacharam Campus is affiliated to CBSE which adopts the most progressive and pupil centered system. And which is the largest school education board in the country.

Delhi Public Schools have been known for making teaching and learning both interesting. Innovative techniques are employed by teachers to ensure children get the most of every moment they spend at the school.

The curriculum, activities, systems and the entire ethos of the institution is designed to make the children discover themselves and their environment through exploration and discovery. The curriculum is contextual and flexible. It is designed to develop the rational and analytical faculties of young children. It lays emphasis on learning by doing. Art, Music, Dance , Physical Education and Games are the medium of imparting education.

Nursery & Prep - The curriculum is flexible, activity-centered and lays strong emphasis on learning by doing. Art, Music, Dance, Physical Education and Games, are the medium of imparting education.

In classes I, II, and III activities are designed to sharpen creativity, curiosity, competence, analytical and problem solving skills. English, Maths, Environment Science and Hindi (mother tongue). Are taught through a theme selected for the month.

From Classes IV onwards, all students study English, Mathematics, Sciences, Hindi and a third language. Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) which includes art/craft, music and dance. Physical education also forms a part of the curriculum. Classes in computer science are compulsory for all students.

Remedial classes in all subjects are held throughout the year, to enable the students who are unable to meet the high standards set by the school, to clarify their difficulties and come up to the level of their respective classes.
