Co-Curricular
Co-Curricular Activities
DPS believes in the age old adage,’ All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’. The almanac is a repertoire of the myriad co curricular activities that are conducted in school. A calligraphy competition every month to improve writing skills, singing, music, dance, elocution essays, extempore speeches are a part of the school curriculum. Special events like Independence Day, Republic Day as also Science, Telugu, Hindi day celebrations are all celebrated in full fervor.
The library week in the month of November sees a plethora of books displayed by all leading publishers in the school. All major festivals irrespective of any religion are celebrated. All this and much more is what you see in DPS.
Club Activities
Club activities are an integral part of DPS. The idea behind clubs is to allow our students give expression to their co-curricular interests and aptitudes. Club activities are integrated within the school frame. The pronunciation skills of each and every child are honed in the language club. A creative corner is selected and students/teachers are asked to contribute to that. The eco-club caters to the conservation, management of energy, bio-waste, electricity, water and other essential units in the school. A major eco-club (NGC) activity is the herbal garden established behind the main school building. The Einsteins and the Ramanujams of the school find themselves a part of the math club and their activities are displayed in it. The social club members call themselves the DPS Chargers- their duty to serve the call of the society. Help organize NSS camps, health camps, contribute to the society during calamities. A Robotics club newly designed is giving shape to a group of working robots. A photography club expresses the finer shades in the child to explore the beauties of Nature and showcase them.
Community Services
We at DPS believe that, the children should leave DPS as members of an aristocracy, but it must be aristocracy of service inspired by ideas of unselfishness, not one of privilege, wealth or position. Inequality among human beings has reached such catastrophic proportions that a sizable number of the people live in abject poverty. Global warming, a consequence of man’s mindless exploitation of nature, is taking the world towards a calamity.
DPS Nacharam, in its own way, makes it possible for its students to learn imbibe values that make them better human beings and the world a better place to live in. we have involved our students in activities sure to make them look beyond their individual self. To become compassionate and responsible and serve humanity for all times to come, true to their motto “Service before Self”.
EVS programmes
One of the most active clubs in the school. The Eco club members call themselves the NGC (Natural Green Corps). This band is responsible for the school being green. To this effect, the NGC members choose a patch of soil, dig the flower bed, sow the seeds and bring up plants. Each NGC member adopts one plant. They water the plant regularly and bring it up with care.
The Environment Week celebrations in the month of July, the monsoon season saw this year 1500 plants being sown in and around the school campus.
A herbal garden with different types of Tulsi, Neem, Rose and other plants have been set behind the old block of the school. This little green patch tended carefully by the NGC adds its own beauty to the surroundings.
A science week commemorating C V Raman’s contribution is conducted in the month of February. This week sees children demonstrating one new experiment in the assembly every day, as also eminent scientists and guest speakers sharing their vision with the children.
Defence,the DPS way!
It was not just one, but two great days for DPS Nacharam when the students took part in the Japan Karate Shotokai Championship, and the Budokan AP State Level Open Karate Championship, and hauled in an assortment of prizes, for their presence of mind and self-defence technique. The Japan Karate Shotokai Championship was organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, under the auspices of the Okinawa Martial Arts Academy. The AP State Level Open Karate and Kung-Fu Championship is a prestigious tournament organized by the All Styles Martial Arts Organisation, AP, and is affiliated to Karate Budokan International. In the JKSC, Yash and Tejasvi bagged gold medals, while Anandita won a silver, and Neha and Rajan scored a bronze apiece. In the BAPSLOKC, DPS won a whopping 7 gold medals, thanks to Ramya, Yash, Naveen, Rajani, and Manasi. Tejasvi and Anandita grabbed a couple of silvers, while Neha and Dharan added the total to 11 with two bronze medals. Mr. Murali, the Karate teacher and the principal, Mrs. T. Sudha, have beenn applauded for their immense support and encouragement. Such tournaments should be promoted to ensure that kids are not only trained mentally, but also in their self-defence.
